Confession and repentance

Dutch | previous chapter | next chapter | back to Headlines

The Bible says over and over again that people go their own ways (Isaiah 53:6), often sin and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), and need to return home where they belong (John 10:2). Jesus is full of compassion about men's state (Mark 6:34). All people need to confess their sins (1 John 1:9, James 5:16, Matthew 3:6) and repent (Matt. 4:17, Mark 6:12, Acts 17:30) which means turning away from disobedience/selfishness and humbly turning to God. This is necessary in order to receive forgiveness, salvation and righteousness in Christ.
