A. After watching the teaching of The Stranger on the Road chapter 6.1 on DVD 3, study The calling of Abraham
  1. What did God tell Abraham to do and what did God promise him? Genesis 12:1-3
  2. Why was Abraham accepted by God as a righteous man? Genesis 15:6, Romans 4:3
  3. What mistake did Abraham and Sarah make? Genesis 16:1-3.
  4. What problems did that create? Genesis 16:4-6 and 15. God was faithful to His promise and Abraham and Sarah had a son. Genesis 21:1-3.
  5. What do we learn about God from this?
B. After watching The Hope clip about Abraham, study Abraham sacrifices his son (seems cruel, don’t get upset; it has a deep spiritual meaning) - God provides a substitute
  1. What did God ask Abraham to do with Isaac? Why? Genesis 22:1-2
  2. What did God say to Abraham after he obeyed? Genesis 22:15-18
    Discuss and describe the parallel between Abraham’s sacrifice of Isaac, and God’s sacrifice of His own Son. God affirmed His promise, swearing by Himself (Genesis 22:15)
  3. Does God change His purpose? Hebrews 6:13-15
  4. What was the blessing that God would bring the nations through Abraham’s descendants? Galatians 3:6-9
