The Hope התקווה Hatikvah

As long as deep within the heart
A Jewish soul stirs,
And forward, to the ends of the East
An eye looks out, towards Zion.
Our hope is not yet lost,
The hope of two thousand years,
To be a free people in our land
The land of Zion and Jerusalem.
A Jewish soul stirs,
And forward, to the ends of the East
An eye looks out, towards Zion.
Our hope is not yet lost,
The hope of two thousand years,
To be a free people in our land
The land of Zion and Jerusalem.

The text of the song is a response to the hopelessness expressed in the valley of dry bones prophesy in Ezekiel 37:11 which says "Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone", based on God's promise in Ezekiel 37:14 which says "I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land."
